GENERAL INFORMATION Most of the various test fixtures illustrated and described in this web site are typically in stock at all times, and thus available for immediate shipment, in both low carbon steel and 17-4PH stainless steel. All other types of test fixtures and accessories not kept in stock can be custom-designed and/or fabricated to the customer's specifications, as required. This is done routinely as many new and modified fixtures are being continually developed. Price quotes for special fixtures and accessories are supplied upon request, and delivery times are minimal. Special adapters to mate our various test
fixtures to any testing machine can be provided at nominal cost. Low carbon steel fixtures are intended for
use at temperatures from room temperature up to 500°F (260°C), in
normal laboratory humidity environments. Our low carbon steel fixtures
are black oxide treated to minimize rust and corrosion in normal
laboratory environments. Components requiring high hardness and/or high
strength, e.g., specimen grips, buckling constraints, load bearing
blocks, etc., are fabricated of heat treated tool steel. Our stainless steel fixtures are intended for
use at temperatures from cryogenic up to 1000°F (540°C), in either dry
or wet environments. All of our stainless steel fixtures are fabricated
of 17-4PH stainless steel. The 17-4PH is a high performance stainless
steel, having a room temperature yield strength at least twice that of
the 300- and 400-series stainless steels typically used, and it retains
its strength and stiffness properties much better at elevated
temperatures. All components requiring very high hardness and/or yield
strength are fabricated of heat treated 440C stainless steel. All of our fixtures can also be fabricated to order using high temperature nickel-base superalloys. These fixtures can be used at temperatures up to 1500°F (815°C), and in harsh environments. Copyright 2001 - Wyoming Test Fixtures, Inc.
